What is disc dog?
Disc Dog is an exciting canine sport played worldwide that combines athleticism, precision, and the bond between human and dog. At disc dog competitions/events, dogs and their handlers throw discs (also known as frisbees), and the dogs must catch them in such events as distance catching or freestyle routines in order to earn a point/score. Key elements to play are the throw/roll (human), the chase (dog), the catch (dog), the retrieve (dog preferred…lol), and the hand-off/drop…repeat. Disc Dog competitions/events are a fun way to compete with your disc loving dog(s) alongside other dog sport loving enthusiasts. With such a wide range of skill and experience, disc dog events are also one of the best ways to learn and improve your own skills. The sport celebrates teamwork and agility, and allows dogs of all breeds to participate, making it inclusive and enjoyable for everyone involved!

“Any dog can learn to catch a flying disc and there is no better exercise for your canine.”

“Shelter Dogs — Shelter and rescue animals make great disc dogs. Although most people think that Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, Labradors and Golden Retrievers make the best disc dogs, nothing could be further from the truth. A loved dog, makes a great disc dog and very few canines are loved more than adopted shelter and rescue canines. ” - Jeff Perry, 1989 World Champion
