We are a group of disc dog enthusiasts that hold fun filled disc dog competitions, workshops, lessons, and events in Ontario! Our goal is to share this fun, exciting, ever growing worldwide dog sport with as many dog lovers and dog sport enthusiasts as possible!
We are a non-profit organization…and donate event proceeds where possible to various animal/pet related causes.

SDD rules and regulations
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Have fun! This is a fun dog sport open to all participants...New comers to the sport of disc dog are always welcome!
2. Please treat your dogs and your fellow competitors with respect.
3. No prong collars, shock collars, or any variations there of will be allowed on the competition field...OR in the competition area. We are all out to have fun with our dogs.
4. A long line may be used on any disc dog competitors with a poor recall. This will give the handlers a way to get their dog if needed...or stop them from leaving the competition field.
5. All disc dog competitors should be under the best control of their handlers. Please keep in mind that this is a sport played off leash. There will be other people, kids and dogs in the area. Dog competitors with “big feelings” are more the welcome, on request we can clear the field area of other dogs.
6. While in the competition area all dogs must be kept on a 4' or 6' leash, unless they are on the field competing with their handlers. Discs will be flying, and dogs will be running and jumping...We do not want anyone to get hurt.
7. All running orders will be posted at the beginning of the competition day. If you are not present for your slotted time we will move you to the bottom of the running order, and continue with the next competitor. When we come to your name again, if you are still not present then you miss your turn.

IF NOT PLAYING BY ANOTHER ORGANIZATION'S RULES…SDD will follow the rules of play below.
TOSS & FETCH RULES AND REGULATIONS
Toss and fetch is a fast moving event in which dog and handler teams attempt to score as many points as possible by completing as many catches as possible within a certain period of time.
1. T & F competitors are allowed 60 seconds (1 minute) and one disc to score as many points as possible...A second disc may be left close by if needed to replace the first due to damage. Time will not be stopped during a disc change. A 10 second warning will be given. Any disc released after time is called will not count.
2. Competitors may chose to throw from either end of the competition field, but once time has begun no changes may be made.
3. The dog and handler must start behind the throwing line. When the team is ready, the throwing line judge will signal the T & F judge. When the T & F judge is ready, timer will begin. Plat starts on “Go”, dog and disc must stay behind the throwing line until “Go”. Competitors may send their canines downfield, or throw, anytime after the start signal is sounded.
4. The handler must always throw from behind the throwing line. Once the first disc is thrown the handler can move freely around the field if needed, but must always return to behind the throwing line to throw the disc. A throw will not be scored if the thrower steps over the throwing line prior to or during the release of the disc...A foot fault will be called by the throwing line judge.
5. To receive points, catches must be completed by the dog while the disc is in the air. Points received will depend on which zone the catch is made in. If a dog catches a disc with paws in more than one scoring zone, the catch will be scored as if it were made in the higher scoring zone (only one paw needs to be over the line to count).
6. Scoring is based on the following point scale. No points are awarded for catches under 10 yards.
Zone 1 (10-20 yards - 30-60 feet) 1 Point
Zone 2 (20-30 yards - 60-90 feet) 2 Points
Zone 3 (30-40 yards - 90-120 feet) 3 Points
End Zone (40+ yards - 120+ feet) 5 Points
An additional half-point bonus will be awarded for each successful catch the dog makes with all four paws in the air.
7. As long as one dog foot is within 0ut of bounds line, catch will count.
EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULES:
1. For all junior handlers (12 years and under) and micro dog competitors (dogs under 16") scoring will be based on the following point scale.
Zone 1 (0-10 yards - 0-30 feet) 1 Point
Zone 2 (10-20 yards - 30-60 feet) 2 Point
Zone 3 (20-30 yards - 60-90 feet) 3 Points
Zone 4 (30-40 yards - 90-120 feet) 5 Points
End Zone (40+ yards - 120+ feet) 10 Points
An additional half-point bonus will be awarded for each successful catch the dog makes with all four paws in the air.
2. Time will be stopped if the dog starts to go to the toilet...And will begin again where left off once the mess is cleaned. Time will NOT be stopped if the dog leaves the competition field...You have the full 60 secs to get them back and throw again.
FREESTYLE RULES AND REGULATIONS
Freestyle is a free-form, choreographed, routine scored by judges with an emphasis on success, variety, innovation, and the athletic skills of the canine and thrower.
1. Dog and handler teams competing in Freestyle will receive 90 seconds to perform their routine. Competitors in Freestyle are permitted to use up to 10 discs. Time will begin when the first disc leaves the handlers hand. Countdown of time remaining will be 30 seconds, 10 seconds and time.
2. Teams will receive a score from 0 to 10 for each of the following categories:
PRESENTATION: The team’s presentation of a crowd-pleasing routine with exciting choreography, continuous flow, good disc management and smooth transitions.
ATHLETICISM: Athleticism and drive in completing catches, tricks or maneuvers together with a dog’s speed and leaping ability relative to its size and control over it's body while competing.
WOOHOO! FACTOR: Have fun!...Amaze us.
SUCCESS: The team’s ability to successfully execute a routine with specific consideration given for the difficulty of the throws, catches and tricks.
3. Music must be e-mailed before competition day, or when requested. Mp3 file format is preferred.
EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULES:
1. Junior and Pairs Freestyle routines will be timed and scored in the same manner as above.
